New Executive Order Bridges Energy Policy & AI

A new Executive Order established the National Energy Dominance Council - this initiative links energy policy with AI advancements. Here are the highlights:

Leadership and Membership

• Interior Secretary Doug Burgum will Chair the Council, with Energy Secretary Chris Wright as Vice-Chair.

• Council members include the States, Treasury, Defense, Commerce, EPA, OMB, USTR, National Security Advisor, CEQ, OSTP, and more.

Purpose

• The Council aims to expand domestic energy supply to meet rising demands driven by AI advancements.

• Focus areas include uranium, biofuels, geothermal energy, hydropower & critical minerals.

Strategic Goals

• Develop a National Energy Dominance Strategy to streamline permitting, boost private sector investment in energy & foster innovation.

• Improve energy permitting, production, generation, distribution, regulation, transportation & exports.

Immediate Actions

Within 100 days, the Council will:

• Draft a national awareness plan on energy dominance.

• Recommend agency actions under existing authorities to increase energy production (e.g., rapidly increasing electricity capacity, reopening power plants & bringing Small Modular Reactors online).

• Propose incentives to attract private sector investments in energy production.
