James Prussing is a Senior Vice President in Boundary Stone Partners’ DC office, with over 15 years of public and private sector experience focused on the intersection of climate and energy policy, financial services, and national security.
James joined Boundary Stone from the Department of the Treasury, where he served as a Senior Advisor in the Office of Climate & Environment and was responsible for developing and coordinating Treasury’s international climate and sustainable finance policies. He led Treasury’s engagement in numerous multilateral forums, including the G7, G20, and OECD, and played a key role in the negotiation and implementation of several international agreements to finance clean energy technologies. While at Treasury, James also held positions as a Senior Advisor in the Office of International Financial Markets where he represented the U.S. internationally on complex financial regulatory and policy issues, and as a Director and Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes.
Prior to joining the Treasury Department, James served as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps. He is an Afghanistan combat veteran and served as a Military Social Aide to President Obama. James began his career as an investment banking analyst in New York, with transaction experience across the energy, technology, and industrial sectors.
James is a fellow at the Truman National Security Project and at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. He holds an M.S. in Energy Policy and Climate from Johns Hopkins University, an M.A. in Security Studies from Georgetown University, and a B.S. in Finance and International Business from the University of Maryland.
