The U.S. nuclear industry faced critical challenges, including the need for legislative support to modernize nuclear regulations, secure funding for advanced nuclear technologies, and reduce reliance on foreign uranium supplies. Without policy and funding advancements, the industry's ability to innovate and expand would have been significantly hindered.
Solution
BSP provided comprehensive legislative and strategic support to address the challenges facing TerraPower and the broader U.S. nuclear industry. BSP successfully lobbied for the passage of three critical bills: the Nuclear Fuel Security Act, the Prohibiting Russian Uranium Imports Act, and the ADVANCE Act. These bipartisan legislative victories modernized nuclear regulations, strengthened energy security, and supported domestic innovation. Additionally, BSP secured $2.72 billion in funding for uranium enrichment in the FY2024 appropriations bill, ensuring a stable supply chain for nuclear fuel. These efforts collectively advanced U.S. nuclear innovation, reduced dependency on foreign uranium, and reinforced the nation’s commitment to carbon-free energy solutions.
