Verdagy

Challenge

Verdagy was seeking federal funding support from the Department of Energy (DOE) to establish a gigawatt-scale electrolyzer cell manufacturing facility in Silicon Valley, CA. The proposed facility would be essential for onshoring the production of electrolyzers from abroad to provide domestically manufactured stacks for U.S. clean hydrogen projects but required expertise to navigate the highly competitive DOE grant application process.

Solution

BSP was hired as a strategic advisor to assist Verdagy in its grant application, contributing to Verdagy being one of eight electrolyzer manufacturers selected for an award under DOE's Clean Hydrogen Electrolysis, Manufacturing, and Recycling Activities program. BSP further supported Verdagy throughout the award negotiations process, ultimately resulting in a federal contribution of $39.6 million to the project. On October 23, 2024, Verdagy announced the First Department of Energy-supported electrolyzer cell manufacturing facility to open in the United States.
