Teddy Johnston is a Senior Vice President in Boundary Stone Partners’ Los Angeles office where he oversees the firm's rapidly growing Batteries and Critical Materials practice group, along with a nascent Space Policy practice. Since establishing BSP's west coast presence in 2016, Teddy has advised dozens of early-stage companies across myriad sectors on how to develop and implement savvy government affairs strategies as a tool for business development by accessing federal funding, shaping Congressional budgets, or influencing an emerging or shifting regulatory regime. These strategies can be as straightforward as executing on a Washington, D.C.-centric lobbying campaign but, more often than not, they require a thoughtful blend of policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, and leveraging an entire range of digital and traditional communications tools.

Immediately prior to joining Boundary Stone, Teddy served in the Obama Administration as Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker’s chief liaison to the business community where he oversaw a number of trade missions to key emerging markets including China, India and beyond. His interest and experience in the challenges American firms face in doing business overseas was previously deepened during his tenure as the Chief of Staff at the Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration.

Teddy is a veteran of the 2008 Obama campaign, where he worked as the campaign’s Florida Finance Director - the campaign's very first employee in this (then) crucial battleground state - and of several political campaigns before that. He holds master’s degrees from the University of Chicago (in the Humanities), Indiana University (in Public Policy), and a bachelor’s degree from Emory University. He is a native of Bloomington, Indiana and a proud Hoosier to this day. You can learn more about all of the above here.
